The White Background Rule

Because baby passport photos are usually taken lying down on a white sheet (or have the background digitally replaced with pure white), you must never dress your baby in white. A white onesie will blend completely into the background, resulting in a rejected 'floating head' image.

Solid Colors and High Contrast

Opt for a solid, dark, or brightly colored shirt. Navy blue, deep red, or forest green are excellent choices because they create a sharp, undeniable contrast against the white backdrop, allowing the automated cropping algorithms to easily find the child's shoulders.

Bows, Pacifiers, and Bibs

Remove all accessories. Large head bows can obscure the top of the head. Bibs often cover the neckline and chin. Pacifiers are strictly forbidden as they obscure the mouth and lower jaw biometrics.
